At the end of January 2026, the association “MIG Municipalities of Elena and Zlataritsa” signed the long-awaited Agreement for the Implementation of the Community-Led Local Development Strategy with the Governing Body of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas for the period 2023-2027. Through this document, in the period 2026-2029, the territory of the two municipalities will be provided with free financing of projects in the amount of nearly EUR 2.6 million for:
- Modernization of the public infrastructure and improvement of the living conditions of the population;
- Increasing the competitiveness of local businesses engaged in production, agriculture, animal husbandry and services;
- Access to quality education and overcoming non-financial barriers;
- Supporting the educational integration of marginalized communities;
- Preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of the territory;
- Protection of the environment and natural resources of the territory.
The European programs under which the LAG strategy was financed are the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas 2,299,665.62 euros, the “Environment” Program – 51,129.19 euros and the “Education” Program – 204,516.75 euros.
